Finally bought a replacement blender the other day, and this one officially crushes ice cubes (my last one apparently didn't which is probably why it died). Decided to branch out of smoothies and try an alcoholic slushy. This recipe using the blender produces a very fine ice drink similar to a slush puppy, but I suppose you could blend the ingredients and pour them over ice cubes if you prefer.
You will need:
4 strawberries
35ml white rum
Squeeze of lime
Tablespoon of grenadine
Tablespoon of sugar (to taste)
Blend all the ingredients together
Add a cup full of ice and blend this in
The grenadine really finished this off- I have seen recipes which omit this and I'm sure it'd still be nice and refreshing, but its worth buying it if you see it in the supermarket.
