easy peasy dauphinoise potatoes recipe
Was making this simple dish for tea tonight, so thought I would post a quick recipe.
This is a favourite in our house and so easy to make!
1. slice potatoes thinly (I used a cheese slicer) and boil for 5 minutes to slightly soften
2. prepare an over proof dish by rubbing butter all over using a cut garlic clove
3. Fry some onions until soft and place in the dish
4. to a pan add 500ml cream and around 200ml milk, salt and pepper, and bring to the boil before simmering to reduce slightly. WATCH CLOSELY as this tends to boil over easily!
5. place potatoes into dish and pour over milk and cream
6. Bake for 45 minutes at 180 degrees centigrade, covering with foil
7. remove from the oven, remove foil and sprinkle on some cheese before returning to the oven for 10 minutes uncovered
Delicious!
